Day Out with Thomas

Ezra had been waiting for this day for months.  The day that we would take a short drive to Pennsylvania and see Thomas the train.  He began to be interested in Thomas the train a few months ago.  We think we can trace it back to when my parents let him take home a Thomas and Percy train puzzle while we were visiting Park City this summer.

Since then all Ez has talked about is Thomas.  We now watch Thomas on Netflix all the time.  The only thing playing on the DVD player in the car is Thomas.  And Ez can pretty much recite all of the 6 Thomas DVDs that we have word for word.  Literally word for word!  I think Thomas the train is his first real obsession.

The parking lot was several miles away from the train station.  So there were yellow school buses to pick us up from the parking lot and take us to the station.  The boys were in HEAVEN!  Trains and school buses?  It was the perfect beginning!
A quick mama and Asher shot before we see Thomas.
This is Asher telling me he sees Thomas.  No facial expression, just his finger. :-)
Waiting for Thomas to arrive!
Still waiting!
Finally we get to meet Thomas!  But the boys were much more interested in looking at him instead of smiling for the camera.  So that's my big bum trying to bribe the boys to look at the camera.  We aren't above bribes over here!
Cute!!  A picture of both of them looking at the camera!
We had to go say hello to Percy too.
I wish I had a video of this moment when Ezra got to meet Sir Topham Hatt.  Seriously the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life.  Ezra doesn't show excitement and emotion about too many things in life.  But Sir Topham Hatt- he was mesmerized.  He had the hugest grin on his face.  He was touching Sir Topham Hatt's hands and looking at his face, it was just about the best mama moment I've had in awhile!
And if you're wondering why Asher isn't in these pictures, well, you should know we tried, but Asher HATES characters like this.  He is terrified of them.
On to some play time with the most train tables I have seen under one tent.  We now have several ideas for Ezra for Christmas!
They played surprisingly well with the large crowd and noise!
We had to get a picture next to Diesel 10.  He is one of Ezra's favorite characters right now.
We had such a fun day!  The boys loved it- a little too much!  Ezra actually had a huge meltdown when it was time to leave.  Jason had to carry him to the car.  Luckily there was an Amish farmer selling baked goodies in the parking lot.  I bought a few treats, along with some fresh moonpies.  The perfect treat to help bribe Ezra back to the car and into his car seat!

Now that we are home and all of the excitement is over, Ezra still asks me: "Go see Thomas?"  Definitely a worth it day!
